JOEY OSKYS

The early days: From a very young age Joey had a passion for music. In fact, at the age of just 9 years old he was jamming songs on his £25 guitar that his older brother bought him!
Playing in bands:
Over the years Joey developed a unique feel of all styles of music, picking up experience with Bands, Solo Artists and his own music. Playing prestige, popular venues all over the UK, and he was also hired for a lot of session work in the UK and overseas.
Song-writing and solo career: After so much experience playing, and having written songs from a young age, Joey decided to record his own songs and carve out his solo career.
Lyrics
Joey is passionate about his music and his lyrics too are passionate and meaningful and often inspired by his own experiences.
Instruments
Although Joey's main instrument is guitar (acoustic or electric - check out his instrumental below) he does play most of the instruments on his tracks.
Genre and Influences:
When asked about this Joey says: “Influences range from the sublime to the loud. From the ridiculous, to the embarrassing (“It was cool at the time”). My first love is RAWK AND ROLL !! However, we have all branched off into our own worlds at different times. For example I have a penchant for not only the sweet tones of a Rock lead solo, but also the screaming of the Foo Fighters and Nirvana, to the Reggae Punk of The Police. I also like to bring it down a notch or two with the warm, sweet sound of a Spanish guitar. The list is endless….. I love Blues, Jazz, Rock, generally anything I can tap my feet to and sing along with!!”
Media: Joey's songs are receiving radio airplay worldwide.
Joey was given the Twirl Radio Award for Male Vocalist of the Year of 2010 - this is the interview he did with Mike Lidskin the presenter Mike also regularly features Joey on the California Diner show on Recharged Radio and this is something he posted about Joey recently in one of his radio show promos :
"London based singer songwriter Joey Oskys has been making a name for himself with his heartfelt vocals and stellar guitar playing. He's not afraid to re-cut tracks, because he's a perfectionist. The craftsmanship shows. He won the Twirlie Award last month for Male Vocalist of the Year. He's in the process of putting a new album together, and we'll hear his song “Better Days”, which really showcases his vocals. Get on the Joey Oskys bandwagon now, and let your friends know where we're going!"

REVIEW OF "HERE IN THIS TOWN" by journalist Samantha Whitham:
"A combination of dramatic piano playing, soft guitars, rock ‘n’ roll voice and beautiful lyrics make this the ultimate love song of the summer. The song takes you back to summers past and has you nicely reminiscing of the days gone by. This is a quality that adds timelessness to a song, as you hear how the artist represents the song and then how you, the audience, interprets it.
Joey’s influences can surely be heard in Goo Goo Dolls, The Doors and Coldplay. His eclectic taste and style in music excite me, and leave me asking: when is the album out? It is so nice to hear original music in the era of The X-Factor. Five out of five for one of the most delightful and elegant songs this year."
