"A multicultural freight train of positivity,

out to wage war on shoe-gazing rock"

The early days:

The band was formed by singer/songwriter Pete Walter in 2009.

Studio Professionals:

Dan Brown (Fiction Plane, Lemar) and Jamie Johnson (Razorlight, Paul Weller) produced the band’s debut singles ‘Troubling Me’ and ‘Ache in my Heart’ in Phil Manzanera’s, (Roxy Music’s lead guitarist) state of the art Gallery Studios in West London. Brown and leading producer Michael Conn (Newton Faulkner, The Wanted) collaborated on the subsequent release ‘Holding On’.  With such music business luminaries working in tandem with PIO the momentum behind the band shows no sign of slowing down.

Fashion and Music!

Building on their recent successes they have managed to attract the attention of sports giants Puma, who asked them to play at the launch of their winter collection.  London Arts and Fashion Blog have the following to say about their performance: “The real highlight of the night was, however, definitely Pete Into Orbit. They instantly created a buzz and changed the atmosphere. Their music is a lot of fun and their lead singer is a great performer. They have a pop rocky sound and were incredibly entertaining.”

Video Show:

It would just be plain wrong if Pete into Orbit weren’t involved in some video projects in connection with the music.  Taking a leaf out of Daryl Hall’s Webby Award winning show ‘Live from Daryl’s House’ the band currently feature a regular video show that they distribute as a free podcast on iTunes and which everyone can find at www.peteintoorbit.com. The show features live performances, interviews, behind the scenes footage and fun little Adam and Joe-esque features like their keyboard player debating moral dilemmas or making anagrams out of rock stars’ names.

Unusual Gigs:

The band have also put their own spin on the live experience by eschewing the traditional London circuit in favour of promoting their own gigs in unique venues. So far the gigs have been staged in a gigantic loft apartment and a barge on the Thames, featuring live art and comedy as well as, of course, some great live music. The gigs give the fans and band alike a unique, memorable experience.

Influences:

The band's influences include: Joe Jackson, Ben Folds, Billy Preston, Prince, Huey Lewis & The News, Billy Steinberg, Elvis Costello

They have been compared to work by artists such as Paolo Nutini, The Feeling, Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello and John Mayer.

There are some love songs in their repertoire, but mostly the lyrics deal with fresher subject matter, helping them carve their own niche.
